Ginene is a company that currently deals with crafted jewelry and bags. Its founder, Rosebelle Diang’a Ochino, started it in 2007.
Why we’re inspired:
> Ginene’s founder, Rosebelle Diang’a Ochino, started where she was. The company name, loosely translated, means “that thing”. Rosebelle says, “I didn’t have sufficient starting capital, so I decided to use ‘that thing,’ whatever I had in my vicinity that did not necessitate purchase.”
> Ginene features original, affordable, custom-made quality jewelry that you’ll hardly find anywhere else. We ladies know how it is to make a costly purchase only to discover that everybody has the same piece!
Where Ginene is going:
“I currently operate from a home office at my residence in Jamhuri Estate, Nairobi. I hope to have stores first in Kenya nd then worldwide, and also to design for celebrities. I say celebrities [because] I believe this will give me a chance to mete Godly or Kingdom influence on these people.”
Advice for upcoming businesswomen?
> Go for it: Many of us usually have great plans but fail to implement them, maybe because of procrastination or fear. We think that our product or service will not be accepted in the market or that the idea is too lofty to work.
> Pray: Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Build a vision community – these are the people who will support and critique your dream.
> Believe: Everything I do is anchored in my relationship with God and having faith in Him. He taught me how to overcome my natural self-imposed predispositions and made something new out of me in His time. The process is ongoing. I encourage people to start or build a relationship with God and to maintain it. Believe in the God who gave you life and the gift as well as the talent, and don’t allow people to put you down just because you don’t YET look like where God has shown you you’ll end up. It’s a journey and a process, so patiently wait, learn the lessons, and see what God has in store for you.
