An Entrepreneur In You
Most of us if not all of us have been wired by our heavenly Father with an entrepreneur mindset and capability. Sometimes it takes effort for us to notice it while other times it just surfaces in our lives. The Bible says in Deuteronomy 8:18, But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth and so confirms his covenant which he swore to your forefather as it is today. God gives us the ability to produce wealth, He gives us the ideas and the resources to do it, He does not leave us to struggle. He then expects of us to prayerfully and intelligently plan and execute that which he has given us for a profit. Proverbs 21:5, The plans of the diligent leads to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
An entrepreneur is someone who, in layman’s language, identifies a need and meets it at a profit. How can one become an entrepreneur? It all begins by getting ideas which may be new or are already in existence and need some improvement. While it is easy for some to get good ideas, for others it needs some inspiration. There are primary and secondary sources of ideas.God can give you an idea directly by speaking to you or giving you a dream or a vision and he may even lead you into leaving or loosing your job so that he may establish an entrepreneurship venture that will promote you and enable you to be in the path of your destiny. You can also obtain them from brainstorming, reading publications, present work environment. idea brokers, venture capital firms, technology transfer agencies improving existing technology, product or services, your hobbies and your home environment. Have you ever bought a product or a service knowing that it will meet your need and then it fell short and you began thinking, if only they could add or deduct something from it it would become better? That already is an idea of improving an existing product or service which you can take up.
Some of us are full of ideas but experience trouble in identifying which ideas have real commercial potential and these research tools may help identify which idea is the winning one: You could ask experts of the field in which your idea lies, carry out internet searches(through websites), library research, form questionnaires/surveys, use existing research and consulting firms, trade associations and market research firms may also be of valuable help.
Having an idea is just the beginning, researching about it is the next step. Never start investing in a venture having not carried out comprehensive research on it because this may be the beginning of your intended business’ demise. Planning and making a business plan then follows. The Bible says that, Proverbs12:27 The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions. This means that, the lazy man that is intellectually lazy, does not add value to the game he gets,he does not add value to the ideas that God gives to him and hence remains in the same state he was or even worse because he kills his game, he analyses to death the God given idea while the diligent man carefully and prayerfully adds value to what God gives him, he executes the divine idea and in the long run the Lord blesses the works of his hands and he prospers. It is always prudent to write down the ideas that we get. Not all of them may be viable now, but in the future when you revisit them ,they may be very rewarding. That is how the diligent man prizes his possessions. Can you imagine a lady who asks God for a baby and when God grants her request she goes on praying and asking the Lord to dress her baby? Of course the Lord expects her to buy and dress up the child lest the child dies. That is what is expected of us,when we get ideas we need to add value to them lest they die.
Always remember that every viable idea at the end of the day should be able to show what need there is to be met, how to meet it, the goal of meeting it and the target market. Remember, patience is necessary. Scholars say the first six months after openning up a venture are an uphill task and thereafter the road becomes abit smooth.Whatever created a difference in Jacob’s flock from Laban’s was the God-given idea of of him having spotted or streaked or speckled animals. Genesis30:37-43. He then went ahead and added value to the idea and it was successful.
You and I are called to be ministers of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are his ambassadors and becoming an entrepreneur is just one of the ways that God has blessed us with so that we can make money that will help us preach the gospel to all the ends of the world as well as meet our needs. Let us pray for ideas and if they are already there let us ask for guidance to execute them so that we may prosper.
I kindly encourage feedback from you our beloved readers. May God bless you and make you successful in all your ways.
HAVE A BLESSED MONTH OF MAY.
