The Wonders of Water
Hey Apprentice…
I need you to settle an argument between my husband and I. We hear all the time that in order to be healthy, a human should drink up to 8 glasses of water a day and I try to adhere to this. On the other hand, my other believes that it doesn’t necessarily have to be water; that as long as he is drinking 8 glasses of some liquid (soda, juice or tea) it’s all the same. I disagree but what do you think?
Thanks

Hey IthinkIamright,
Well congratulations, you can now change your name to “Iamright” because you are absolutely right! First of all, it is very important to drink water and remain hydrated. Did you know that your body is 60-70% water? Water is important because it is required to do different things like transport toxins out your body, regulate temperature through sweat, provide transportation for different nutrients, maintain an antibiotic environment and even keep your skin looking good.
The problem with trying to replace water with other beverages like soda is that sweet drinks contain a high content of sugar that can add calories and thus fat, be precursors for various illnesses and even dehydrate you. The symptoms of dehydration include muscular pain, bright yellow urine (might have a strong concentrated smell), constipation and dizziness. As a female, water is extra important because it helps keep our skin looking tight and fresh. Now although I am saying water is important, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the consumption of other beverages, as long as it’s in moderation and not the sole source of liquids. So now tell your husband since he lost the bet, he has to drink a glass of water!
Stay blessed
T
