Fibroids

Hello Toyin,

Thanks for the good work.

My question is what causes fibroids, how can they be prevented and are they

hereditary?

Thanks

Triza

Hi Triza,

Thanks for the compliment, the Lord is my strength and I give him the glory!

Fibroids are masses made up of smooth muscle that are commonly found in the female uterus. First of all let me say fibroids are mostly benign (non-cancerous) and have an extremely low risk of developing into uterine cancer. They are found in women of reproducing age and are more common in some races (African American) than others (Caucasians/Asians). Now while I did say they are benign, fibroids still carry their own set of complications that can be quite disturbing. They include heavy and painful menstruation, abdominal pressure and pain, pain with sexual intercourse, infertility, miscarriage and premature labor.

Are they hereditary and if so, can they be prevented? I really have not heard of fibroid prevention because as I mentioned, it tends to occur more in black women. Please note that although I listed a lot of complications from fibroids, most women are asymptomatic and millions of women don’t even know they have it. Please don’t attribute every cramp or stomach ache to imaginary fibroids…LOL!. Live the healthy life God has blessed you with…..

Stay blessed
