How to prepare for your yearly gyno exam
How can we adequately prepare for a gynecological exam?
The yearly gyno exam is one thing many women dread but it can be made simpler if we do a few things.
In the course of the year, keep a health diary of your periods, especially any abnormal pains and discharges. Your doctor is likely to ask questions about these so it’s best to be prepared and if you get in the habit of writing down when something goes wrong it is easier to pick up patterns.
Schedule your appointment a week or two before or after your period. At this time your breasts are not so sensitive so it will be easier to conduct a breast health exam and to detect abnormalities. It will also prevent discomfort.
If you are married, you should stay away from sexual intercourse for at least 24 hours before you visit your doctor.
Pray! God is the best Giver of peace and He can calm you before and during and even after your exam.
Blessings!
