Woman on a Mission
READ IT ALOUD: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10).
PONDER IT PRAYERFULLY: Once you’ve done the New Switcheroo, it’s much easier to focus on what’s important. And perhaps the most-important thing in life, aside from God’s love for you and your relationship with Him, is knowing your purpose. Yes, God created you and has great plans for you and yes, nothing can separate you from His love. But if you go through life unaware of your purpose, it is very likely that you will end up making a bunch of wrong decisions that complicate it and make things so much more difficult than they should be.
We are the Body of Christ. Just like every single part of our bodies has a purpose, each of us has a unique role to play in the church and in this world. Some of us are huge and noticeable like arms. That does not mean we should push everyone away – instead, why not help to bear other people’s burdens? Those of us who are high up there, like eyes, should not look down on others; instead, we should be watchmen, prayerfully warning our brothers and sisters of any impending danger we see. Some of us are hardly thought about, like toes. No need to make a big stink about that, though (pun intended).
Yes, we were created to do things everybody does – worship, for example, is one crucial purpose for every life. We were created to worship God. But within this act of worshipping, you have your specific role to play. You have a mission. Every opportunity you have in life is an opportunity towards your mission. It is your responsibility, to find out what it is and to begin to carry it out if you have not already done that. Knowing your mission will give you direction and make things so much clearer. You will begin to enjoy life because now you’ll have a goal to work towards and a valid reason for that goal. Every achievement will be so much more fulfilling and every praise will therefore ring so much louder.
BE A DOER (JAMES 1:22): “Why was I created? What do I enjoy doing? Have I begun to do that which I am called to do?” These are some questions that you can prayerfully take before God as you seek Him about your purpose. You need to know. It will motivate and direct you in your priorities. It will help you to assess your walk with God. Most importantly, living out your purpose will be a significant effort towards kingdom building and glorifying God. On the other hand, not knowing could lead to a life filled with frustrations and disappointments that could have been avoided if you had just stopped and taken a moment to seek God. A revelation of your purpose is a freeing experience. To find out what it is, all you need to do is ask.
HIDE IT IN YOUR HEART (PSALM 119:11): I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air (1 Corinthians 9:26).
PRAY IT PERSONALLY: Father in heaven, thank You for creating me for a specific reason. I want to be confident that I am headed in the right direction. I want to glorify You in every single part of my life. Please show me what it is You created me to do – please give me a teachable and obedient heart, and let me hear You clearly as You speak to me concerning this, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
