Beauty Alphabet
Attitude determines altitude. God Himself has said that you are beautiful (Psalm 139:14). For no reason should you ever believe anything else. Your attitude can affect your mood, how often you eat, what you choose to eat, how you walk, where you go and how soon you accomplish tasks. All these will be reflected outwardly. What kind of ambassador are you?
Balance. Organization is key. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). Seek Him early each day so that you can lay out your schedule in a way that is pleasing to Him and both efficient and effective to you and others. Being clear about what you are doing actually enables you to exude an air of confidence.
Cry when you need to (Psalm 62:8). Stifled tears result in future explosions. Don’t hold back because it can become a habit. Your body was not made to handle accumulated pain. God provided our tears as a way of expressing joy, sorrow, pain, and anger. Express yourself to Him.
Dance. Just get up and be silly, even if you are alone. Do a random praise-jig (Psalm 149:3) – it will get you laughing and laughter is one of the most-open beauty secrets around.
Encourage someone (Hebrews 3:13). Do what Jesus would. You are representing Him on earth, after all. We are His body.
Fruit and flowers. The fruit to purify your skin and system, the flowers to remind you to be thankful that God chose to bless you with beautiful things that you do not deserve and would not have thought of if they did not exist.
Give to someone less able than you are. It does not have to be in public, nor must you give money. Give your time, effort, smile – it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
Holiday. A holiday does not need to be expensive. It is simply a festive time when you reflect on or commemorate something wonderful. Most if not all countries in the world have public holidays. Have private holidays to celebrate God’s blessings and offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving. Do not forget His benefits (Psalm 103:1-3). Genuine joy shows outwardly.
Inspire others. As you walk in God, there will be people He provides to mentor you, and people He provides for you to mentor. You are a steward and your gift is for the edification of the church. Do not sit on it – stir it up; use it (2 Timothy 1:6). Inspiring others will be rejuvenating for you and who is more radiant than a rejuvenated woman?
Jesus came that we might have life, and that more abundantly (John 10:10). MORE abundantly. Joy is God’s gift to you – receive and enjoy it and it will show.
Keep regular sleep hours. I am sure you’ve heard the phrase “beauty sleep”. Sleep is important, especially at night. Not only does it do wonders for your physiology, but it is one way in which you can hear from God. “In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction.” (Job 33:15-16)
Learn something new. Education is a lifelong process. Do not allow yourself to become stagnant. Each day, ask God to open your eyes to what He wants to teach you (Psalm 25:5). He will be faithful to come through.
Mingle… with people who build you. Go to church (Hebrews 10:25). Join fellowships. Form friendships. You are not a social island, but you also have to be wise. Consider Jesus and the 70; Jesus and the 12, Jesus and Peter, James and John. Each relationship level had its own dimensions. And Jesus did not see the need to rely on human beings for sustenance.
Nourish… your body, but most-importantly, your spirit. Eat healthily, drink plenty of water. Someone said that if Christians fasted like they are supposed to, there would be no obesity in the church. Seek God about fasting and go ahead and do it. It is not a must, but it is highly encouraged (Matthew 6:16-17).
Olive oil… has several benefits. Use it! Apply it on your body and hair, cook with it, sip it – it is good for you.
Persist… Your dream may not have come true yet, but if God is behind it, then it cannot be too far away. Don’t give up. Dejection and disillusionment cannot hide in your heart for too long. Eventually, they will be exposed. Keep hope alive, keep moving, do not give up, do not stop until and unless God says so (Psalm 31:24).
Quiet time… You need the Word of God to keep you going. Prayer is powerful. You will be blessed if you trust in God at all times. The woman whose delight is in the law of the Lord is blessed (Psalm 1).
Release those who have wronged you. Someone said it is possible to hold on to a grudge so long that your hand is too clenched and deformed to receive what God has for you. Let go of grudges; forgive all but be wise with your trust, and keep moving (Matthew 6:14).
Smile! A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. Anger dries the bones (Proverbs 17:22). You can never have nothing to smile about. Even in the toughest moments, God loves you. So smile!
Time… is of the essence (Ephesians 5:16). Understanding the times will give you a sense of direction and purpose, and that will boost your confidence. Confidence always shows outwardly.
Understanding. A simple woman is one without understanding or wisdom, who sits at her door and calls simple/foolish men to their death (Proverbs 9:13-18). A wise woman is praised by all who know her and blessed by God (Proverbs 31:10-31). The simple woman is not happy. The wise woman leads a joyous life. Which would you rather be?
Value yourself and others. When you look at a man or woman, boy or girl, you are looking at God’s valued, treasured handiwork (Genesis 1:26). The same applies when you look in the mirror. Realize the importance of each life and accord each person the respect due to them. You will be respected in return.
Walk. You were given your legs for a reason. Ask the Lord to let them carry you where He desires you to go (1 John 1:7). Take the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator. The chemicals that are released in your body during exercise actually affect how you feel.
eXperience. It is a wonderful teacher. You may look back on your life and see it as a series of failures, but the truth is what does not kill you really will make you stronger; why? because you have one less thing to be fearful of. Learn to look at your experiences as lessons and to thank God for trusting you with them (Job 32:7).
Yearn: Be passionate about your calling. Be passionate about God’s passions. Does your heart ache for the lost? Do you have a God-given vision and are you pursuing it according to His instructions? (Habakkuk 2:3.)
Zip it up: You have two ears and one mouth. “Use them in that proportion,” someone said. I agree. Let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath (James 1:19). Do not gossip about others; leave hissing to snakes. Do not indulge in meaningless conversations.
