Comforting Assurances

READ IT ALOUD: For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock (Psalm 27:5)

PONDER IT PRAYERFULLY: If we allow ourselves to, we will find it easy to be scared by all that is going on around the world. Plane crashes, fires, earthquakes, a global economical crisis and now an unknown disease. If we choose to be moved by our circumstances, we will have plenty of excuses to feel anxious about the future.

However, God is still God and still on the throne. He is not surprised by anything that is going on. He has promised to take care of His children and His Word never returns to Him void. Our best option is to trust Him because worrying will not change or help a thing. It is possible, and not just that but it is also very easy, for God to look after His own. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is still a Healer and Comforter and knows the end from the beginning.

BE A DOER (JAMES 1:22): God is not a man that He should lie. Don’t worry! No matter what happens, refuse to worry.  Trust and obey Him. Stand on His word and refuse to be moved by anything else. He is still closer than your thoughts. His Name is still a strong tower to which the righteous run and are safe. Continue to cling to Him and remember that He is in control. He never lies.

HIDE IT IN YOUR HEART (PSALM 119:11): If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

PRAY IT PERSONALLY: Father, nothing takes You by surprise. Where I am surprised, let me not be afraid. Where I find the news too hard to bear, let me cast all cares on You. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference, and in all things, Lord, grant me Your sweet peace, in Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
