Acid Wear

Dear Toyin,
How are you? Thank you for the great work you are doing, God bless you so much. I have a question (I am so excited I feel almost like I will be on TV and I will be sooo happy if it’s featured)….. Is there a cure for acid wear/tooth wear? What are some ways in which it can be prevented if that’s possible?
Looking forward to your reply,
Sheila Mtera

Hey Sheila!
Do you know that I feel like a superstar answering your emails…*wink*. Teeth are covered by enamel and this can be worn out due acidic foods such as juices, fruits and soda. When the tooth enamel is worn out, it makes the teeth more sensitive to temperature and prone to decay. Unfortunately, it is irreversible so they only way to deal with it, is to try and prevent it. You can prevent it by
• Balancing your diet of acidic and neutral foods i.e. eating nuts with your favorite fruit,
• Using a straw to drink soda and other acidic drinks
• Visiting your dentist regularly
• Staying hydrated with water
• Get treatment for diseases that can cause enamel wear i.e. Bulimia and  Gastroesophageal Regurgitation Disease (GERD)

Stay blessed
T
